In a continuous effort to bridge the gap between advanced spatial computing and national educational frameworks, Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) recently showcased its cutting-edge Virtual Reality (VR) Bicycle training system at the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Putrajaya.

The showcase offered government officials and education stakeholders a firsthand look at how immersive technology can be utilized beyond traditional classroom settings. Developed by the engineering and academic team at APU’s XR Studio, the VR cycling system is a highly interactive research project designed to revolutionize athletic training and physical education.

Key Features of the VR Bicycle System:

• Sensory Integration: The system goes beyond visual simulation by integrating physical feedback, including artificial wind, uphill resistance, and tilting slope effects.

• Dynamic Environments: Users are immersed in interactive virtual landscapes that simulate diverse weather and environmental conditions.

• Performance Tracking: The setup allows for real-time monitoring of user performance, making it highly applicable for both sports science and general physical conditioning.

During the exhibition at MOE, attendees were invited to test the VR bicycle, experiencing the seamless blend of physical hardware and digital environments. The demonstration highlighted how Extended Reality (XR) can create engaging, risk-free training scenarios that are otherwise difficult or costly to replicate in the real world.

This showcase at the Ministry of Education further cements APU’s position as a premier digital tech institution. By actively sharing its research and innovations with national policymakers, APU continues to advocate for the widespread adoption of immersive technologies to enhance Malaysia’s educational and training ecosystems.
