The Wonders of the World
Comprehensive Summary
An application designed to showcase the potency of the EDEX station that highlights how it can be applied in multiple disciplines of study – shaping the thought processes and skill sets required to create effective XR applications. The Wonders of the World application consists of 4 difference experiences: Globe, Roman Colosseum, Giza Pyramids and Great Wall of China.
Project Justification
The aim of this project is to create an immersive and interactive educational experience for students by incorporating spatial computing through XR (Mixed Reality) technology, particularly utilizing Microsoft HoloLens. This project is founded on the belief that active student participation and collaborative learning are essential components of an effective educational environment. By integrating spatial computing technologies, we seek to enhance students’ understanding and engagement, allowing them to explore complex concepts in a dynamic and interactive manner.
Spatial computing offers a unique platform to visualize abstract or complex ideas by overlaying digital content onto the physical world. By leveraging this technology, we can enable students to interact with three-dimensional objects and scenarios, facilitating a deeper understanding of subjects that might otherwise be challenging to comprehend in traditional learning settings. This project aims to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity among students by providing a cutting-edge educational experience.
Objectives
- Utilize Microsoft HoloLens, a leading XR device, to provide students with an immersive and interactive learning experience. Ensure seamless integration of the hardware and software components to create a user-friendly XR environment.
- Create tailored XR educational content aligned with the curriculum and learning objectives. This content should effectively utilize spatial computing to enhance understanding and engagement, fostering a deeper connection with the subject matter.
- Implement features that allow multiple students to participate and collaborate within the XR environment simultaneously. Encourage teamwork, discussions, and problem-solving by leveraging the spatial computing capabilities for shared experiences.
